Terrorist attacks in Belgium

The Government of Spain expresses its profound regret and condemnation, in light of the news received, regarding the many victims of the terrorist attacks carried out on Tuesday at Zaventum Airport and a Brussels underground station in Belgium, which once again show the most brutal and inhumane face of those who only know how to employ the language of violence and terror.

Spain expresses its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of all the victims, and sends its best wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured, and passes on to the people and Government of Belgium its sincere condolences and solidarity.

At this time of sadness and grief, the Government of Spain expresses its firm conviction that violence should not be allowed to bend the will of all those of us who believe in reason, the values we all share as Europeans, the unity of those who make up the European Union and that the rule of law which must be imposed on this terrorist barbarity and the full weight of the law falls upon those responsible for these atrocities.
